The Corner Worker’s Award is the most prestigious and coveted recognition a Club Racer can receive. They are awarded to one individual per race, by poll of each Corner Worker from start/finish to Flag Station 15 (top of the hill under the bridge on the front straight). This can be earned by having a heroic battle the entire race for first in class, an outstanding “save” in a very precarious situation, or, in this Chairman’s case, being super predictable when thrown into the fast group as the back marker–or so I assumed when I received it unceremoniously in the mail a couple of months after the Road America races in 2020.
